Questions
What is SoboCall?
A free tool that gives you four people to reach out to each day, plus support tools. It is not medical care, therapy, or a crisis service.
Are the four calls instead of my regular calls?
No. They're a bonus on top of the calls you already make, like your sponsor.
What if I don't finish all four?
Nothing bad happens. Tomorrow is a fresh four.
Does the app call people by itself?
No. Buttons open your phone's dialer or messages app, and you press the green call button yourself.
Who can see my contacts and progress?
Only someone using your phone. Everything is stored on your device. There are no accounts and no tracking.
Can I keep category labels private?
Yes. Turn on Private mode in Settings to use neutral category names, rename them yourself, and hide personal role tags on lists. Contacts remain visible on an unlocked phone; Private mode is not a lock.
What happens if I lose my phone or clear my browser data?
Your SoboCall data can be lost. To protect it, go to Settings and tap Export backup, then keep that file somewhere safe (like email or cloud storage). On a new phone, open Settings, tap Import backup, and choose the file.
Do reminders and notifications work?
Birthday reminders can also show as an optional phone notification: turn it on in Settings and choose the time. It works while SoboCall is open or running in the background. Other reminders aren't available yet. Birthday reminders appear inside the app: on someone's birthday you'll see a banner and a Birthday call card at the top of Today, and Contacts lists birthdays coming up in the next 7 days. You can set the reminder time in Settings.
Does SoboCall remind me about birthdays?
Yes, inside the app. On someone's birthday you'll see a banner at the top of Today with a special Birthday call card — it doesn't count toward your four. The Contacts screen also lists birthdays in the next 7 days. You can also turn on an optional phone notification in Settings, which works while SoboCall is open or running in the background.
Can I save someone's email or birthday?
Yes. Every contact has optional Email and Birthday fields. Tap the email on a card to open your email app. For birthdays, the month and day are required and the year is optional.
What happens when I finish all four calls?
You get a celebration with a message that matches your mood — funny, inspirational, or sad. Change your mood any time on the Today screen or in Settings.
What is the Help now button?
One tap to call 911, call, text, or chat with 988, and reach your sponsor, your 24/7 person, your Anytime list, and naloxone info.
What is the Anytime list?
Up to five people you've picked who are okay with being called at any hour.
Why is there naloxone information?
Tolerance drops after time away from opioids, so a relapse can be much more dangerous. Naloxone can reverse an overdose, and it works best alongside calling 911.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari with Share > Add to Home Screen. Some Android-only features, like the long-press Emergency shortcut, won't appear.
How do I install it?
Android: Chrome menu > Add to Home screen / Install app. iPhone: Safari Share > Add to Home Screen.
Does it cost anything?
No. Core features and safety features are free.
How do I delete my data?
Clear the site data for SoboCall in your browser settings. To only clear today's picks, use Reset today in Settings.
How do I report a problem or suggest an idea?
